H.R. 4669 Would Help Military Personal Keep Their Auto Insurance When Moving Across State Lines

Active members of the military received good news this week when U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-California) introduced the Service Members Insurance Relief Act (H.R. 4669), a bill that will enable active members of our nation’s military to keep their auto insurance even if they move from one state to another.

Quick Approval Expected

The bill will most likely be sent to the House Financial Services Committee where it’s expected to be quickly approved because active members of the military have to change their auto insurance carriers each time they move and that can be a major headache for servicemen and women who have to start over in a new state.

Widespread Support

Rep. Ed Royce said this recently about H.R. 4669: “This bipartisan legislation makes a simple but meaningful change to current law that will lessen the burden on service members and their families during times of transition.”

Modernizing insurance regulations has been a long time coming since the Federal Insurance Office has been striving to do more to help our nation’s military since 2013.

Many current and retired of members of the nation’s military are hopeful that H.R. 4669 will make it easier for any member of the military to keep their insurance if they move from one state to another since their auto insurance will be recognized in every state.
