Thanks to a recent report by www.nerdwallet.com we know the latest list of cities that can be considered the worst in the United States for drivers.
NerdWallet based their survey on the following criteria:
• Annual cost of owning a vehicle.
• Population of city.
• Commute time in traffic.
• Weather conditions.
Although you may not be able to change where you’re moving in 2014 it’s important to make your commuting decisions in advance if you live in one of the following cities:
New York City
It may not surprise you that New York is the most expensive city in the United States for drivers since there are close to 30,000 people per square mile but what’s shocking about New York is that it costs close to $2,000 per year for the average person to afford auto insurance here.
Back in the day Detroit used to be the city to be for automobiles because, so many awesome cars were made here over the last 30 years but these days it’s expensive to own a car in the Motor City and car insurance will cost you about $5,000 per year.
Car insurance in San Francisco may not be crazy high when compared to the rest of the country but what’s the real penny pincher here is the cost of gas because, the average price per gallon is about $4.23 and gas prices go up quickly gas prices rise across the country.
